“The Middle of Nowhere,” for which I wrote the music, lyrics and co-wrote book with Ellie Shakespeare, takes place in Nowhere, Oklahoma- a real town, believe it or not, and follows the story of two adventurous teenage girls – Abi and Lili. Lili is proud to be from Nowhere and wants to accomplish something big in their small town to put Nowhere on the map; meanwhile Abi is desperate to get out of town to Memphis to pursue her career as a singer-songwriter. The musical was mentored by Stephen Schwartz, Randy Brenner and Stormy Sacks, and performed at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, CA as part of the Wallis’ Creating Musical Theater: A Collaborative Lab, as well as at The Reefer Den, as part of The Foundation for New American Musicals’ MUSI-CAL event.
