Instrumentalist

I began playing the piano at the age of five, studying with Helene Mirich and my father Tom Griep. I took up the trumpet at ten years old, and have studied privately with Ryan Luevano and Dustin McKinney. I attended the prestigious Colburn School of Music, where I performed in the Colburn Youth Orchestra, Colburn Wind Ensemble and Colburn Brass Quintet. During my time there, the Youth Orchestra premiered my piece “So, This Is Love.” I arranged and performed

Meredith Willson’s “76 Trombones” with my brass quintet, which went on to win 5 Star Theatricals’ Battle of the Bands Competition, presented by Patrick Cassidy (son of Shirley Jones, who was pregnant with Patrick while filming The Music Man). While at USC, I have been part of David Arnay’s Jazz Combo, I’ve played trumpet for a production of “Funny Girl” at The Colony Theatre, I was the pianist and Associate Music Director for USC Musical Theatre Repertory’s production of “The Addams Family” and the Associate Music Director for USC’s “She Loves Me.” I was the Composer, Music Director, Pianist and Trumpeter for USC School of Dramatic Arts’ “Conjunto” by Oliver Mayer, as well as “Chavez Ravine,” USC’s inaugural production in the Sanctuary Theatre. I have performed in several recitals for my colleagues, started my own band, and in my spare time, I love to teach!
