In January of 2021, I was selected as a singer-songwriter winner in the renowned YoungArts Competition. Based in Miami, Florida, YoungArts is a week-long intensive for performing, visual and literary artists to collaborate with peers and develop their crafts with internationally recognized leaders in their fields. Alumni of the program include Timothée Chalamet, Viola Davis, Nicki Minaj, Kerry Washington, Billy Porter and Josh Groban, to name a few. Out of nearly 7000 applicants, I was one of six in my category, and mentored by the incomparable Chris Sampson.
Through my YoungArts Award and academic achievements, I was nominated for the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts Award- one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership qualities and community service, presented on behalf of the President of the United States and U.S. Department of Education.
