The ASCAP Foundation Sammy Cahn Award was created to commemorate the life and career of the late lyricist and ASCAP Board Member, Sammy Cahn. Supported by a grant from Sammy’s widow, Tita Cahn, the cash award is given each year to a promising and aspiring lyricist recommended by ASCAP Creative Service Executives and selected by a distinguished group of songwriters, based on the quality of the lyrics submitted. Sammy Cahn’s many hit songs include “High Hopes,” “Call Me Irresponsible,” and “My Kind of Town.”
